Never Settle

Have you ever had the feeling that you wanted to have it all? Did it ever cross your mind to give your family the best life that they deserve? Have you ever wanted to be more, do more and have more?

If it hadn’t, then I pity you. You probably haven’t done anything noteworthy. You probably haven’t experienced the joy of victory and the sorrow of defeat. You probably gave up on the thought of being a contribution to other people. I tell you this. If you don’t change that attitude, then you’re better off dead.

It should be mediocrity, not mediocracy. =)

Contentment and Contribution cannot live in the same planet. I don’t believe in pure contentment. When you are truly content, then there is nothing left for you to do in this earth. Hence, you should be dead.

Pure contribution is a double-edged sword. On one end, it makes you happy. On the other end, it makes you miserable. Happiness comes from lifting others. Misery comes from the thought that the change you wanted to see in people might not happen at all.

This is a heavy topic. As I write this, even I am disturbed by the realizations and visions that come to mind. A lot of people might feel that I am stepping on their beliefs, religion and upbringing as they
read this. Well, maybe I am.

Contentment plagues this country. Do you know what it had done to our society? It created citizens without a backbone to make this country great. It created parents whose retirement plan is solely based on their children’s “utang na loob.” It created children whose plans for the future is an inheritance (if any) from their parents. It created employees who just worked enough so that they won’t get fired; In turn, creating companies that would only pay their workers enough so that they won’t quit.

Contentment killed growth, initiative and responsibility in this country.

If Rizal was contented, Noli and El Fili wouldn’t have been released. If Bonifacio and Mabini were contented, Katipunan wouldn’t have been established. If the people were contented under Martial Law, the 1986 People Power wouldn’t have happened.

This doesn’t mean that I am instigating revolutions and rallies. Personally, I would want people to stop standing behind the picket lines and blaming everything on the government. Instead, I would want to see them start taking charge of their lives.

Discontent is not the opposite of contentment. This is a call-to-arms for everyone to aim for more than just getting to feed their family three times a day. This is a challenge for everyone to remove the belief that they should be content with what they have.

A lot of people, after reading this blog, will go back to their normal daily lives struggling for a pittance of a salary; unaffected and unfazed. Only a few people will respond to this call. They will start by taking a small step forward, a very important step, with the hope of giving their
family the life that they truly deserve; a life of wealth, happiness and abundance.

“Hopelessness is a gift. Give up hope that your job will give your family the life that they deserve and start doing the things that would contribute to the future that you desire.”

If you are one of the few who will spark the revolution by taking charge of their own lives, I commend you and I am supporting your decision. As Mahatma Gandhi had said, be the change that you want to see in the world.

Never settle.

The Revolution of Progress

“Becoming better” starts when we raise our standards. It happens when we raise it one or two notches higher than the one who raised us. Pulling other people down won’t make you better. Trying to belittle their results won’t do the trick either. It never did. It never will.

We are fighting for a country that would have this kind of culture in its core, a culture of excellence and endless growth. We believe that by living this culture of abundance, we inspire other people to follow suit.

If we can create a culture where people would always be committed to become better, then we will live in abundance and the Philippines will once again be great.

“Be the change you want to see in the world.” –Mahatma Gandhi
